Fisherman's Wharf Review
My mother and I, during a recent business trip, decided to give the Fisherman's Wharf a try. My business brings me to the Tidewater area at least once a month, so I always try to find locations to entertain prospective clients. I saw an ad and decided that this trip we would give Fisherman's Wharf a try. Being that the location was right on the water I was really looking forward to this.

Sadly this restaurant left me very disappointed; in all honesty it completely failed to meet any of my expectations. The food was mediocre at best, and for a buffet it lacked a lot in what you would expect as far as options. In fact this was the first seafood buffet I have ever seen that lacked the two basics on any seafood lovers list: hush puppies and crab cakes. Even a Captain D’s or a Long John Silvers at least offers the basics. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who was unhappy, as a couple who came in a little later was, in just minutes, discussing their disappointment. In defense of some staff members I found our hostess and waiter extremely helpful and courteous, but that nowhere near makes up for the experience. Not one single item I tried on the buffet line would I rate anywhere close to excellent, in fact the best thing I had was the tea. At $52.00 + a couple anyone really wanting an excellent seafood buffet experience would be wise to cross the tunnel and travel to Williamsburg to Captain Georges, where for about just a little more you will get the experience your looking for. I wish I could chalk this up to a bad night, but there’s way too much wrong for that to been the case. My suggestions would be a complete overhaul or to cut the price of the buffet to around $8.00, which I believe it was really worth. The owner(s) of this restaurant should really take the trip to Captain Georges and do an honest comparison and the make the necessary changes, if they hope to capture a better market share of seafood lovers.    [07 May 2003 13:51:57]
