Grate Steak Is!
What a terrific experience dining at the Grate Steak. You can select from a number of cuts of the finest beef and you can let the kitchen prepare it or -- and here's the real fun -- cook it yourself over their indoor charcoal grill. Drench it in butter and spices as it is cooking for trememdous flavor. Do up your own toasted garlic bread over the grill, too.
It doesn't really matter if you know what you are doing, their steaks are so good I have not yet found a way to ruin one (besides, there is staff to assist you should you need it.)

What A Bust!
My visit was a disappointment. Over 45 minutes to receive a steak that was cool to the touch ... YUCK! Then the manager never even stops by to apologize or see what she can do about it and has the audacity to charge me for the salad bar - which I only made on trip too as I was leaving room for the steak. Should be Great Steak !!
We (family of 3) have been going to the Norfolk location since we moved here in 1984. The food, salad bar, service, and ambiance is the best. We stay on their mailing list and get free birthday meals too. One of our favorite places to eat in Hampton Roads !!    [21 Nov 2005 16:11:00]

Da Best Prime Rib..........
Went there on Fathers Day, one of the busiest day, besides Mothers Day and Easter, and everything was 5 star. Even the manager Sean came over and ask how everyting was. It was just too bad that the other 2 Grate Steaks had to close, just long as this one stays open will be ok.
