Pleasant Views, Decent Food My wife and I ate here recently. We had a table next to the window wall overlooking the lake. The atmosphere was plesant but not fancy.
We started with calamari. They were well cooked, not at all chewy. They were served weth two big lemon wedges and a sauce that I had no complaints about.
For our main courses, my wife had a Caesar salad. This was the low point of our meal. The salad was flat and the dressing was bland and too mayo-y. We did not finish it. I had a veggie burger with swiss cheese and mushrooms. The burger was better than most veggie burgers I've had at restaurants, full of flavor and with distinguishable ingredients. The fries that came with it were excellent. Again these too were well cooked and did not taste like they had been sitting under a heat lamp.
As for service, our waiter was very attentive and we were never for want of drink. The people at the table next to us came in after us and said that they were in a hurry because they had to go to a show at Wolf Trap. The waiter made suggestions as to which dishes were generally faster to prepare. The kitchen had no problem accommodating them and I did not feel that our service was compromised because of them.
They also have a weekend brunch which I have yet to try but the feeling that I got from the place is that it is the sort of place that would do a good job with brunch.
With the execption of the Caesar salad I would recommend this restaurant to others who aren't vegetarian. I do appreciate that they have at least one option for vegetarians but I think that they could do better. [09 Aug 2005 09:29:02]
