A group from my office went here last week for the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet ($13.50). The staff was attentive enough and they kept the buffet line replenished at least until 1:45pm when we left. The vegetable tempura was crispy and hot and didn't taste like it had been sitting out for hours under heat lamps.
I was here one other about six months ago with my wife for dinner. We had a pleasant dinner which featured their terryaki beancurd, miso soup, and an avocado roll. Again it was well prepared and the service was good.
The only complaint I have is that I felt their prices were a bit high. I think the sushi maki is just as good at Mama Wok where it is cheaper [19 Sep 2005 13:38:47]

Excellent service! Wonderful lunch buffet, too! We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Obi Sushi...you must give it a try. In the past, we'd always driven to McLean or Vienna for sushi, so it's terrific to have another option nearby. Our meals there have always been great. It has an unusually casual atmosphere for a sushi bar---they play sports on tv?!? Kind of unexpected, but fine if I'm in the mood for that, if not, I just sit in the other half of the restaurant, which is quiet with no tv. [06 Apr 2006 15:15:29]

Will Never Go Again I am a Japanese expat living in the area, and this is THE worst Japanese food I have had. The service was OK, but the food just does not meet any standard.
The sushi tasted like someone played catch with it. The teriyaki chicken was not teriyaki at all...they had just poured teriyaki sauce (which was way too sweet) on it. Worst of all, the green tea was lukewarm. Something that is not acceptable for a Sushi restaurant.
One saving grace was the Tempura, which was prepared quite well...except that they included broccoli and potato. That is just wrong. Also, Maki Sushi were not so bad.
I am pretty open when it comes to Japanese food (I am just glad we have so much of it here), but this I will not recognize as Japanese food. Call it what you will, but please do not call this Japanese!! [27 Aug 2006 03:37:35]

Reston deserves better Japanese Reston is known for it beautiful design and wonderful town center. This restaurant (I also do not call this a Japanese restaurant) is a disgrace to the Japanese art of food. It’s not because it’s a big company that owns this chain…because Reston has many quality big company restaurants (Morton’s, Clyde ect.) that serve quality food. My wife and I tried this place three times and left with the same feeling…..sushi was flat in taste…rice was molded poorly. Some pieces fell apart…some too small, some with slices of fish too thin….some too much on the rice. Poor Poor Poor quality. My wife asked for her sushi to be without wasabi…the order came with the wasabi on. I sent it back and watched the sushi chief to see if he was going to make it from scratch again. He proceeded to remove the sushi fish with wasabi and place it on a new piece of rice. After completing several pieces in this manner he noticed I was looking at him. and proceeded to scrap the whole plate and complete the order correctly. There is a right way of performing a job or service. This restaurant has no pride from top down. If the sushi chief has no pride in his work then why would the manger or cooks in the back care either? The lunch buffet is pathetic…very little basic sushi for $12 + …Its all about numbers with this place….quickly make your sushi and get you out to seat someone else. They will have a regular flow of customers because of its location…but they will me missing regular loyal customers due to its poor quality in food. I hope with the additional expansion of the town center that another sushi place will arrive and serve Japanese food to a customer base that is currently not being served. [04 Mar 2007 11:26:08]
