A Truly Great Restaurant Le Yaca is one of the genuinely great restaurants, standing out even among the choices in a city famous for its fine dining. The intimate atmosphere is lovely and authentically French, especially surprising in view of the restaurant's location in a discount mall. The duck breast is simply the best I have ever eaten, even in France. The wine list is exceptional, and the service is fully up to the high standards of the decor and the food. Well worth a trip to Williamsburg just to experience restaurant dining at its very fin [09 Sep 2003 10:26:03]

A great intimate French restaurant I first visited Le Yaca a month ago and cannot wait to go back. The menu is definitely French, but it changes frequently. The owner is from France an dis passionate about her food and her restaurant. You should ask her how she named her restaurant. Service was attentive. Food was served promptly. I live in Norfolk, 45 miles away, but I will be back. They are very tight about reservations. If you have a 7:00 reservation and are not there by 7:10, your reservation is given to the many waiting people who do not have a reservat [30 Nov 2003 21:52:32]

La Yucka We were bitterly disappointed in our return visit to La Yaca. After a very favorable first visit we decided to try again but that is the last time. After trying to decipher exactly what the texture of the pate was, (three different employees had different opinions.) I ordered it and of course it was exactly what I didn't want. A country pate with very little flavor. I was expected to use the very well browned baguette with the pate. I asked for toasted rounds. I recieved two for the entire serving of pate. The leek and potato soup was definitely the highlight of the meal. Creamy and delicious. My main course was scallops in a rich sauce. The flavor was very good but the richness of the sauce was too much. For dessert the creme brulee was good but would have been better made with a real vanilla bean. The service was not up to par. Trying to get the attention of our server was a challenge. Empty wine glasses with the bottle in a bucket across the room. Its bad form to wave to a server in a restuarant such as "La Yaca" but it was necessary. No next tim [15 Apr 2005 15:39:57]

wonderful!!!! never disappointed I had a wonderful romantic dinner with my husband in a little room called the petit salon. My seafood was ambroise a pwefect melding of flavors. My husband had the duck and said he had never had better even when he had been to France. My sampler dessert was so yummie. The service was attentive without the hovering. [21 Aug 2005 14:54:20]

Going back every time As future residents of Williamsburg, we had to try Le Yaca as it was recommended by almost every wine, cheese, and food shop owner in the city. We had seen it during the day by looking through the windows and were skeptical - thought it looked like patio furniture. Boy, were we wrong! The restaurant is appointed wonderfully and the food is, to use a cliche, "to die for." The potato leek soup was scrumptous - creamy, flavorful, rich, but not at all heavy. The entree of chicken leg (actually the leg/thigh quarter) stuffed with foie gras was rich, meaty, savory, and all that roasted chicken and foie gras should be. For dessert, I had the terine of roquefort which is home made. Thankfully, the serving was small because it was the richest, creamiest cheese dish I have ever experienced. Perhaps the 1/4" of butter pressed on top and bottom of the terine of roquefort cheese and walnuts added greatly to the texture. The pinot noir by the glass was fruity and just bold enough to complement the chicken and foie gras. Prices are very reasonable with entrees in the mid twenties, but including salad or soup. There is really no need to order appetizers, though they looked marvelous. All in all, a wonderful find - and one we will visit again and again [28 Mar 2006 21:05:31]
