Diamond in the Rough Pangaea is by far the best restaurant I have eaten at in the Berkshires. The laid back, yet refined environment coupled with the creative menu made for an excellent evening out.
The menu has a wonderful range of dishes - from Asian-inspired noodle dishes to Italian/German inspired game and red meat. Everything was incredibly fresh, and the sophisticated simplicity of the dishes made it possible to enjoy every wonderful flavor.
My only gripe, and I hate to even call it that, was the lack of "light" dishes amongst the list of appetizers. I would have enjoyed something light to precede my pheasant, however, I quite enjoyed my crab over rosti, so who am I to complain?
Overall, an unpretentious way to enjoy haute cuisine in an area lacking in good food. [26 Sep 2004 12:27:39]

Truly Wonderful Experience My wife and I had Christmas Eve (2006) dinner at Pangaea and could not have been more pleased.
The food was excellent - well prepared and well presented. The service was impeccable. Our waitress could not have been more helpful nor pleasant, and the entire staff was attentive without being obtrusive.
Pangaea is pricey but well worth every nickel. We were there for a little over an hour and a half - obviously not rushed but never unattended.
The atmosphere is casual elegant. We decided to dress up but it was not necessary. Original artwork adorns the walls, and the lighting is dim but not so that you have to squint to see the menu.
My only nitpick is that the plates were chipped and that was noteworthy while not diminishing in any way our experience. A total pleasure! [27 Dec 2006 01:24:35]

consistently Wonderful Bill Scully is, by far, my favorite chef and my wife and I have enjoyed his creations for over six years. We, like many others, have followed him when he opened his own restaurant, Pangea.
Mr Scully is a very personable guy, rare in his field, and knows his customers.
Pangea has a very nice and relaxed atmosphere and the service has always been excellent and consistent. The wait staff are pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about the food and the wine selection. They always make just the right suggestion.
Last night I had the fried calamari alla Diavolo and the pan roasted Long Island Duck. It was simply delicious and was truly an experience. This is the place to go if you are looking for a very pleasant evening and excellent food. The prices are extremely reasonable. If I were to voice a concern it is that someone from out of the area were to look over his menu they may get a mistaken idea about the quality. The meal was worth far more than he charges. The only “gripe” I have is that he is in Vermont, although the drive is well worth it. [24 Aug 2007 00:40:26]
