Redneck Heaven
The Backstage is the local hick hangout for the older crowd. If you aren't at least 40 years old, don't go here. I've never tried the food, but they do have quite an assortment of beverages:
Bud
Miller
Labatt
Wine in a box (for the little lady)

With choices like that, why wouldn't you go here?

Lots of Choices
The Backstage in Essex Junction, VT is more than "redneck heaven" and the local "hick" hangout. Actually, other than a very few "loudmouths" it's not a "redneck" place at all. The crowd tends to be slightly older - it's definitely not a college crowd and is usually made up of about 75% regulars and locals. Essex Junction is home to IBM and other businesses and is not in any way, shape or manner a "redneck" or "hick" area.

The Backstage has recently put in a new jukebox which is fantastic - new speakers - new televisions - and done some general sprucing up. It's not fancy - but it's clean and reliable. The menu is varied and the prices are reasonable. The food is good and plentiful. There are bands, DJ's and/or Karaoke on most Friday - Sunday nights after 8:00. This is also a great place to watch the "game" as they are sports friendly. There are several beers on tap, many bottled beers, and always a knowledgeable bartender who can whip you up anything you desire. There is waitress service after 8:00 also. Before that, just go up to the bar and tell the friendly bartender what you'd like. Drink prices are very reasonable also.

It is non-smoking now and so it is no longer necessary to "burn" your clothing. All in all - out of 10 stars, I'd give it 8 stars. Check it out!    [12 May 2006 17:45:11]
