Good food with a focus on presentation. Portions are smaller than many other restaurants and occasionally I walk away wanting more but usually the portions are just right. The Grill is part of the New England Culinary Institute and the quality of the food and service is always a bit of a crap shoot depending on when the last student rotation occurred and how far into the semester they are.    [05 Jul 2004 10:09:00]

I Attended NECI and I Am Ashamed to Admit I Think the School Is Slipping.
My sister had come down to visit me from my hometown. I thought it would be a great idea to show her where I went. Our server who had been there for a while never took our drink order and never refilled our water. I had to ask him several times for more. Our food took a long time to get out. The flatbread was cold, and everything was adding up. The sweet potao fries were the best part of the meal. I figured I could end with a nice dessert. I had the creme brulee... Maybe it was there first time making one, but hey had a thick layer of sugar on there that didn't caramelize.

Then I went again with my roommate who also attends the school. My appetizer never came, and we waited two hours for our food to even come out. When her burger finally came out, it was overcooked. We saw another student and said she sent her burger back three times and then took it to-go so she could cook it at home.

Ever since last year when we had new managers come in, new chefs, and new students, everything to me seems to be going downhill. I love the school, but they need to get thier act together. I believe that everybody has bad days, but two times in a row when I went...something is up.    [21 Oct 2005 13:31:46]
