First Visit to Big Fat Fish Company Had lunch at BFFC on Saturday 2/26/06. Not a good experience.
Ordered, then waited and waited. Finally I had to get up and ask our server how long it would be before I would obtain my drink. I asked our server if they had a staff shortage, she said they did. We were in the front dining room, north side, a second server handled the south side of the same room. I heard "I'm Sorry" so many times I lost count. More waiting. Two people that entered after us, south side, were on their second serving of bread. Our table was bare. Finally I asked our server for some bread. When our soup and salad were finally served, before we were half done with the soup and salad, our main entrees were served.
Caesar Salad was very good; The House Clam Chowder was unique but good; The Baked AVO and Garlic my wife enjoyed; My Clams Linguine was generous with the clams, but the sauce was extremely watery.
The only other complaint I would have is the Silly Restaurant Name. Not a lot of class, and the reason we had not tried the place earlier.
Anyway, I am not anxious to return. Too bad, they do have an appealing menu, but who knows if the dishes are special or not. This was a $40.00 lunch I would have gladly passed on if I had known the outcome.

Big Fat Hit & Miss Four of us dined at Big Fat Fish Company March 2, 2006. It was a series of "hit and miss" - mostly miss, much to our disappointment. 1. Reservations for 7:00 pm were not on the books...after a short wait at the bar we were seated.
2. Three of us wanted to order a bottle of White Zinfandel - none to be had on the entire wine list...also, very few choices if one wishes to order wine by the glass...
3. Halibut fish and chips - halibut was dry, overdone and tasteless...
4. Seared scallops (3) were brought to the table 5 minutes after the other three dinners...had to be sent back because the scallops were not warm and were not done...
5. Waitress was slow, clumsy and very unsure of menu offerings (new???).
6. House salad seemed to be straight out of the box from from Costco - nothing special was added to the greens other than 3 slices of cucumber. Salad vinegarette was bland. [03 Mar 2006 10:56:07]

I would not go again, all flash, no flavor! Well I was really hoping it would be good
If only the food was as good as the look, really nicely done place. Sadly the food is pretty, but not hot or tasty.
I have had the one dine, and doubt I'll be having a second.
Took the waitress far too long to arrive the first time. Took a beverage order & took way too long to return with the refreshing beverages.
She then took out dinner order not offering appetizers, or even salad or soup, or mentioning any specials
The 3 of us ordered the pistachio encrusted halibut, served on roasted red potato's.
The halibut arrived lukewarm at best served on a bed of nicely seasoned, but not fully cooked red potato's.
The center of the potato's were the texture of raw carrots, and the halibut tasted white.
Hmmmm, you may be thinking... white doesn't have a flavor does it? Well neither did the halibut! [19 Mar 2006 01:24:02]

I love FRESH sea food, I love TBFFC I love it there! The Sushi is the best I have EVER had, the best of all of BHam (and I've had it all). It's pricey so I go there for lunches. Every dish so far has been great, the fish and chips.... mmmm ok, this is fine dining so have some unusual and be surprised! [20 Mar 2006 22:42:07]

BIG FAT FISH CO This Restaurant rocks.... Who would have thought to make sushi available along side regional seafood? The restaurant is bright and airy... has cosmopolitan flair- Definitely transports you out of the doldrums of winter. The servers are well trained. They have a really sweet happy hour- $5 for a daily sushi roll special, and $5 wines by the glass & cool martinis and such.... [29 Mar 2006 22:07:28]

Walked Out We had previously had dinner at the restaurant and had a pleasant experience so went back for lunch. It happened to be Sunday and we arrived around 3:00 PM. They were just closing off the brunch and had not much to choose from on the bar menu.
The service was enough to make us walk out without ordering though. We waited quite a while for a server to come to our table to even let us know what was available. Another server who was working the other tables did not even offer us water, and in fact, walked by us to give her tables water without offering us any. Kind of a no-brainier if you don't want customers walking out. Probably be quite a while before we would try it again. [03 Apr 2006 14:15:44]

Surprisingly good! Based on the other reviews we canceled a previous trip, but decided to give it a try. The ambiance is pleasant. The service was rather slow, but acceptable. We had to ask for bread. The salad was about average for a fairly high-priced restaurant. The main courses (Seared scallops and halibut fish and chips) were tasty and well-presented. The vegetable medley of baby zucchini and squash was very good. My main complaint is that it is pretty pricey for the portions. All in all though, we thought it was much better than previous reviews indicated and we will return. [16 Sep 2006 23:05:15]

Expensive ! Chef is a jerk ! We went in once and had a decent dinner, so we went back again. We sat at the bar and overheard a chef yelling at the wait staff. The food is OK but it is very expensive, how about $94 with one drink each for two people - and this is in Bellingham. There is not a view like Anthony's (which is amazing nearly all the time) or like the Harborside Bistro ... so why so expensive? [13 Oct 2006 20:45:17]
