Great beer, marginal food. The beer is unique and worthy. The IPA is top-notch. The food has always been marginal here... not everything, but most. Go for the smoked salmon chowder, one of the more expensive seasonal entrees, or the humus plate. Avoid the rest. [24 Nov 2004 14:11:22]

Love Boundary Bay! Best root beer I have ever had, and pork tacos that actually taste like Mexican food. This is, in my opinion, one of the best spots in Bham. (Unfortunately, the one dessert I had there was dry and weirdly bitter...I hope they improve on the sweets) [26 Jun 2005 18:52:30]

Worst Service In Bellingham, the food isnt far behind. First let me qualify this review by mentioning I'm commenting on the restaurant portion of the brewery, I don't drink, I do dine out :)
I have eaten here twice, the first time, to try it. The second time I was with a small group of people who insisted we go there, despite my warning them that I had experienced the worst service I had in years, and very mediocre food, they were sorry!
Let me also mention I have quizzed other people who have dined at Boundary Bay, asking about their experience, simply because I had a hard time believing that it could be consistently that bad. Every person I asked had about the same response, "you don't go there to eat, you go to drink". Apparently its not big secret how bad their restaurant is. I would not be as harsh a critic of their restaurant, if they were marketing themselves as a "Brewery" but they market themselves as a "Brewery and Bistro" Beer and snacks is one thing and my expectations are very different for beer & snacks vs. something proclaiming itself a "Bistro"
I could go on with a litany of everything that was bad about this place, but I don't have enough time. Bottom line is this is the only time in years I have not left a tip, on both my visits. I have never experienced such bad uncaring, lack of anything service dining out, and to have the same experience twice, its a bit more than a fluke, (two different wait people).
Ok, now a couple of positive words, this place is almost always packed, its busy all the time, and I'm referring now to the bar/brewery portion of the establishment. Having never been in for beer & snacks I can only assume they do that part of their business well.
If you are looking for a beer and a chat, many folks seem to enjoy it for that. If you actually want to eat, all I can say is NO, don't do it!!!!!! [17 Dec 2006 18:32:41]
