Friday Music Was Great The special trout entrée was wonderful and the Bourbon bread pudding was the best. [30 Apr 2001 20:50:36]

Jambalaya Hilbo and the gang at Alligator Soul serve up the Jambalaya (all you can eat) with corn bread and corn salad. Fortunately it's never the same twice, and always delicious! [10 Jun 2002 14:27:21]

Crunchy Chicken Gumbo As many times as I have been there, I always have a battle with my better judgment in trying anything else on the menu. This dish is stupendous. Begin with the fiery shrimp appetizer but beware, not for the faint of tastebud. [22 Aug 2002 13:48:25]

Flies in Your Soup? We love Alligator Soul, but on Friday, August 23, 2002, we went to dinner with out of town guests to treat them to a great dinner. One of our guests ordered the shrimp Creole, which was wonderful until she found a fly in it. She made light of the situation to the waitress, but when the bill came we were not compensated in any way. When I called to talk to management the next day about the situation, I was told that yesterday is yesterday and that it was too bad. I would have confronted the situation at the time of the bill but didn't want to make a scene around other diners. When I called I asked for Hiobo and was told he was busy so I asked to talk to the manager; the person on the phone said she was the manager and also was our waitress. I think this is very poor customer service, and although I love the restaurant, the music, and the atmosphere, I am totally appalled at the service; and not only that, we left her a nice tip. Fantastic This was our first time visiting the Alligator Soul. We were very impressed with the atmosphere, the service, and the food. My husband enjoys spicy but this got him so overheated he could not finish his meal. I had the alligator pie, very rich and delicious. [15 Mar 2003 23:53:29]

Awesome Music The best Cajun I've had. We, my husband and myself, have taken a lot of our friends and they loved the experience and the food! (On Friday or Saturday nights.) Thanks. [26 May 2003 02:56:51]

Les and Ms. Keys Burn It Up I went here for the second time last weekend with dear friends. Les the drummer had some of his oh so talented students playing that night as a substitute for himself. Twice during the night all four of the drummers played all at once. The energy was so intense from the amazing beat and rhythm of the jazz that one could not help themselves to swaying and clapping to the eight hands playing the drums. Ms. Keys (her stage name)is a marine biologist with a velvet voice. The food was immaculate and the atmosphere like the deep south, lively, bright, close knit and home. My favorite restaurant of all time. A little expensive if you're on a student's budget but more than worth it! Be sure to make reservations. [20 Jun 2003 20:55:42]

Down Home Funk Been going to Alligator Soul ever since it opened. Probably going on 10 yrs now. Except for a short stint while Hilbo attempted to run this and Hilbo's in Greenlake, the place has never disappointed me or any of my guests. Only two lil bitty problems...the volume of the great tunes on Fri/Sat nights could be turned down a bit. If you make reservations, request window seating as that's farthest from the band. And except for beers, they have a very limited bar. No club soda even. Who would drink wine with cajun food? [24 Jul 2003 15:42:20]

Hot and Spicy This food is spicy the way I like it. I eat there all the time and would guess it rivals any in the South. I usually get the shrimp Creole. But I recommend the ribs for those who love red meat.
Music is on Fri. and Sat. and can get pretty loud (great music though).
I feed my son before because the menu isn't the most kid friendly. They will make some items in a smaller version and that isn't listed. [24 Aug 2003 19:22:26]
