Description
King Ludwig's offers a full Service Restaurant specializing in German cuisine and music. They are famous for their "Schweinshax’n" or Pork Hocks. It is said they sell more of this Bavarian Specialty then any restaurant west of Chicago. On Friday and Saturday nights enjoy authentic accordion music and dancing in true Bavarian style. They are located near "Kris Kringle" on Front Street. Menu in English and Chinese.

Athantic German? maybe.. We just moved to Seattle, WA from Munich Germany and of course we visited Leavenworth. We went to King Ludwig's for Schnitzel and it wasn't too bad... but not too authentic, either: The red cabbage had way to much cinnamon in it and the breading of the Schnitzel wasn't quite right and even offering rice pilaf with a Schnitzel is an insult (so we picked the red potatoes, but usually it comes with frys!). But still: The taste was good and the veal was tender. [03 Jan 2005 20:17:20]

A Fun Experience I went to King Ludwig's with a group of 20 friends and had a great experience. We ordered a platter with a number of meats and sides on it, along with thier famous "Schweinshax’n" which our friendly server (dressed in Bavarian clothing) carved for us. The food was hot, and the "Schweinshax’n" was crispy on the outside with great seasoning.
With a good dinner in us and some great German beer, we made out way out onto the dance floor for the Chicken Dance and more to accordian music.
While the food may be "Americanized" a bit for american tastes, it tastes great and the we all had a great time! [16 Jan 2005 14:20:32]

Good fun, good food! My boyfriend and I ate the New Year's Eve dinner at King Ludwig's in 2006. We waited over an hour to get a seat, but were not disappointed. It is a fun family atmosphere with a truly hearty meal and live New Years entertainment. Simple menu but great food! [29 Dec 2006 23:45:04]

Lots of Fun and Great Food! I have never been to Germany, but I did work for a Turner Gymnastic Camp in Illinois for a couple of years while I was in college, and King Ludwig's reminded me of the Rathskeller there. We had the platter for four and a pitcher of beer and loved it! It is loud, rowdy, and lots of fun. The kids at the table next to us had a great time dancing to the music, and we had a great time watching them. We will go back again! [07 Oct 2007 22:14:08]

Favorite Leavenworth destination For me, King Ludwig's is the closest to authentic German food I've seen in Leavenworth. The atmosphere is fun and warm, and I've always gotten very good service, too. [12 Dec 2007 23:13:13]

Big disappointment We ate there two years ago and had a great time and were very satisfied with our meals. However, this time it seemed run down and the food was greasy and expensive. The women's bathroom was dirty and in disrepair. I would not recommend it to anyone. [06 Jul 2008 18:26:00]
