So-So Food, Fantastic Music Most tourists would consider this to be in Spokane. It's a family & friends run ranch BBQ dinner and show place. Starts with a really silly little comedy "western" show that made me think, Ohmygod, what is the after dinner show gonna be like! The food is just OK, not real smoked BBQ but rather grilled meats with sauce. Chicken was poor. But when the show starts you sit up and take notice. These are trained musicians, the 2 fidders were fantastic, the guy who had the stupidist part in the aforementioned play strums a mean bass, the lead singer is excellent, I could go on and on. The musicianship was A+. Turns out the same people who greated us, took our money, made bad jokes and served up the food are now up on the stage doing what they apparantly love to do best. Open weekends and they said they now have a Third Thursday night jazz dinner show where "real" food is served on plates. I would certainly give it a try, these folks are fine jazz musicians. $20 to $23 for the whole shebang. Sweet lemonade and water included, No alcohol served. [12 Aug 2006 17:37:36]

Want to go again! It was our 11th anniversary and we could not decide where to go. We chose the Rockin B based on comments from others saying how great it was. We felt guilty about not taking our kids to a show touted as fun for the whole family so we ended up having them with us eating ribs, drinking lemonade and laughing and pounding on the tables, and oddly enough my wife commented on this was one of our better anniversary dinners!
When reviewing food you always have to take the full atmosphere into account. Most of the building has wood floors, except for under the picnic table which is dirt. There is a delicious smelling bbq smokey haze lingering near the rafters that teases you for a couple of hours before dinner. You get your own lemonade or water in your very own mason jar. There is a bucket on a rope that goes up and down every time one of the restroom doors is opened. Some of the actors (who are also cooks, band members, kitchen helpers, all around good folk) walk around with spurs jingling asking how you are doing.
Now after painting that picture, you want to have a meal that fits the mood.
You get in line and get dished up some vittles that may have been served right from a cook wagon on the trail. I found the beef tasty, the chicken was moist and savory, and the ribs made me want to get in line for seconds. A tip would be to make sure you get generous spoonful of the tangy red bbq sauce, it went great with the meats, the beans and even the baked potato!
Its a sure bet that I have had better beef and chicken in my day, but the food here is very tasty and plentiful and show has you hooting and laughing so much that if they just gave you a bowl of popcorn you still would have walked out of there with a big satisfied grin on your face (minus the bbq sauce on your chin, of course) [17 Sep 2006 12:29:43]
