Unacceptable Behavior On our visit to Ivar's for the first time, we were fortunate NOT be seated and subjected to more of the same.... POOR! VERY POOR AND UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!
As an African American and fellow citizen who’s proud of my heritage, loves my country and just as patriotic, I’m appalled by the blatant, unprofessional and racist attitudes we (my daughter and I) were subjected to while waiting to be seated at what I understand is a landmark.
On Wednesday, March 30th 2005, at approximately 8:00pm or so, we visited Ivar’s for what we thought would be an enjoyable evening dinner overlooking Puget Sound. What we experienced were stares by some patrons and downright rejection by the reception team at the seating counter.
We were never seated and made to wait while other patrons who did not have reservations were constantly being seated, one after another, arriving long after we were there. It appears that after all these years Ivar’s hasn’t grown much, at least the people it has hired to run its business.
Oh the food! Well you know... [31 Mar 2005 18:34:09]

Anniversary Surprise Anniversary dinner. Waterfront table overlooking Port Gardener Bay. Totally wonderful until the main courses arrived.
Wife had the halibut. It appeared to be boiled and laid atop purple potatoes. Tasteless.
For me, a seafood Cannelloni. A promise of salmon, prawns, scallops, in rich pasta and cheeses. A reality of puddled grease and cheap ingredients. I could only eat a few bites, but a few bites was about a third of it.
I guess if its inedible, folks won't realize how little is there. The staff was nice about it, but nobody actually cared. Not even the manager could be bothered to come talk about it.
So, fifty-two bucks poorer, we left hungry and a bit angry. This was my first time ever stiffing a tip. The anniversary? We're back home. Didn't go for desert as the cramping had started. Doesn't look like we'll be romancing tonight. [06 May 2008 21:40:58]
