One of our favorite places
We go there almost every time we come down to our beach house.    [04 Nov 2004 15:42:51]

Awful Place = Awful Experience
My wife and I spent last weekend at Ocean Shores, this was our first and last visit to this town. Anyway, during our stay at one of Ocean Shores Hotels we decided to go and have a dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants. We were looking for something that is truly local, a place with good seafood, we found The Home Port Restaurant & Lounge. Before we were seated I looked what the Menu is offering, prices are too high but it looked promising. As we waited for our table near the door, one couple left the restaurant very upset, very unhappy, this was alarming but I didn’t pay attention because our table was ready at that moment. After ordering couple of appetizers and couple bowls of clam chowder soup we decide to order one more dish. Appetizers are price, they start at $12.99, and soup is $4.99, but they are nothing special. The appetizers and soup are low grade, made cheap and with lots of fat. I decide to order one more dish: “Grilled Oysters with Baked Potato” and salad, for $18.99. What I received was a disaster, the potato looked so bad that I laughed, for a second I thought this must be a joke, - candid camera for sure. This potato cannot be compared to one you can buy at Wendy’s Fast Food, Oysters are heavily flavored and soaked in oil, doesn’t look or taste like it was on the grill, and I am not sure how the salad looks because I never received mine. A minute after receiving this junk I called the waitress and told her that I am very sorry and that I cannot eat this food and would like to return it if possible. She said no problems, and took the plate away. Right after she left another waitress arrived with our bill and strange look on her face; I realized that this last dish was included on the check. At the paying station I explained cashier Kathy that I canceled this dish and that there should not be charged for $18.99. Kathy looked at me like I just killed someone in her family, and this is word for word what she told me: “This is not some sampling restaurant where you can just come in and try food, then decided that you don’t like it”, “If we do this for EVERYONE (I guess I am not the only one who had the similar experience) then how we are going to make any money”. I was shocked, I couldn’t believe my eyes and my ears, I explained that this is not about money, that I didn’t came here with my wife for a free meal, that I didn’t try or eat this dish, I only looked at the food and I didn’t like it. Basically, Kathy was extremely impolite, and I am sure that she doesn’t understand the meaning of customer service business, she refused to refund us for return meal, and she refused to call manager, instead she called Ocean Shore Police telling them that customer is not paying the bill. Outrageous, disgusting, and shocking; NEVER GO HERE!!! NEVER!    [24 Sep 2007 15:35:17]
