THE BEST!!!
I have never ever had a bad meal or experience at Ben Moores! As a matter a fact its a really homey feel good kinda place. The staff treat you like you supposed to know them and they really play it too. But really, they are just trying to have a little fun. If you ever spent any time there you would find it really is a fun place to be!

They have these great bar specials. You can get a beer or a drink and a burger(big, fresh, and juicy) or fish and chips for like less than 6 bucks! What a deal! They have the best steaks in town! They make these dishes that are so original! Must try them. Oh did I mention how fresh and tasty the seafood is? Wild salmon, yum-ooo! Oysters al-pesto? Whats that? Its something you won't find anywhere else, thats what that is! Try it for yourself.    [09 Mar 2007 06:30:59]

Horrible, horrible, horrible...
That is the only way to describe my experience at Ben Moore's, and it is an understatement.

I have traveled all around the world and it was here at home in Olympia that I came across the rudest waitress I have ever met. She had a horrible attitude from the moment I set foot in the door and it just got worse from there. At times she refused to make the slightest acknowledgment that I was speaking and would walk off mid-sentence.

The food was NOT good (undercooked pancakes and French toast), the hot chocolate was brown water, and the whole meal was almost unbearable because of the way we were treated.

I have NEVER complained about a waitress, I was one myself for several years! But I felt compelled to go to the owner on this one. The owner, however, does not even resemble a sane person. He proceeded to scream at me to “get the hell out” of his restaurant and let out a slew of curse words. He got in my face trying to intimidate me as I spoke to him VERY calmly. I felt physically threatened and his psychotic demeanor led me to believe that he was going to hit me, I kid you not. It may sound like I am making this up, I wish I were because it ruined my entire morning, but this was by far the worst experience I have had eating out.

I would suggest that anyone reading this that has a problem with men berating women in public for voicing a complaint, not visit this establishment. It was not only bad food and bad service; it was scary and demeaning.    [30 Apr 2007 00:31:53]

I have never had a better meal
I have never had a better meal! Ben Moore's is the best restaurant in Olympia, WA. The food is wholesome and well prepared. It reminds me of my time spent in Europe. The food freshly prepared and seasoned to perfection. The servers are direct, friendly and honest. I go there every Sunday for the fried spagette.

I am a regular for life!    [21 May 2007 05:29:42]

A favorite
Ben Moore's is a great place and you'd never guess it from outside. From the street it looks like a dive, but the back room is hardwood floors and white linen with a pianist many evenings. They make excellent steaks at a reasonable price and have great salads, burgers and pork chops too. The also have a very good burger and fries or fish and chips on happy hour in the bar (which is just a neighborhood bar).
This is the kind of place that you go to sit and enjoy a leisurely dinner with good conversation. Don't try to do it in a rush as service is not fast and doesn't pretend to be.
In response to Celia's review, I've never had a problem with any of the wait staff, but the owner can be a bit surly in the face of a complaint. He doesn't seem concerned about losing a customer    [12 Jun 2007 21:05:08]
