Service? This morning, July 12th, 2006, I took an out of town guest to Family Pancake House in Redmond, Washington. I was embarrassed for choosing this establishment by the complacent attitude and lack of service by the wait staff on duty. The hostess, too young and emotionally immature for her job, represented the obvious lack of training and complete disregard for patrons visiting the restaurant. Either she didn’t know when or how to ask for assistance when it got busy up front. Other employees purposely avoided assisting her, those waiting to be seated, or those waiting to pay for their meal. A balloon was given to a child but when it floated to the ceiling out of reach the hostess failed to provide a new one; and watched without helping or intervening while the child climbed a highchair to retrieve it. If management was on site one would think staff would behave differently; yet I’m sure a good manager would never let service to get this bad in the first place. Poor management equates inadequate employees. The food? It wasn’t really that bad. But the service left a bad taste in my mouth.
