Curry Pot is an Indian jewel The recently opened Curry Pot in downtown Renton is amongst the best Indian restaurants in the entire Seattle area, and serves some food not found locally. Fish tiika served on a sizzling plate is fresh and nicely spiced; not hot spicy at all but full of flavor. Shrimp jalfrazies shows off their large fresh shrimp. Appetizers include curried mussels, which they misspell on the menu as "muscles". Spelling mistakes aside, food is what they do very well at. The onion chutney, seldom seen at Indian restaurants locally, is addictive. Desserts include pistachio ice cream. Lunch is a 5.99 buffet, which shows off some of the items you'll want to come back for dinner. All in all, the place rock [25 Apr 2002 01:11:38]

Curry Pot shines Renton's Curry Pot is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Seattle area. Fish tikka, served on a sizzling platter, shrimp Jalfraizies, tandoori chicken, garlic naan are all outstanding. An unusual and delicious red onion chutney is available(included in the lunch buffet). dessert includes pistachio ice cream. This place is well worth a visit. [26 Apr 2002 01:23:17]

Curry Pot Adequate Went for the buffet. Perhaps it was because it was 1:30 or so, but the food was not as fresh as could be expected. The tandoori chicken, usually a favorite, had a cloying flavor and did not appear to have been cooked in the tandoor. The zucchini in the curry du jour was limp and translucent; only the spices saved that dish. The two good things were the kheer (rice pudding) and the pakora (deep fried veggies in chickpea batter). Nonetheless, for $4.95 (we used the $1 off coupon in the Renton Reporter) for the buffet, the food was adequate. One minor pick, too, is that the location is in a storefront and it feels as if one is eating at a 7-11 with Indian hanging [03 May 2002 12:35:19]

Curry Pot....no sparkle in the jewel Visited for the first time at lunch. It was 1:30 and I was the lone diner. The raita tasted like yeast, though I was assured by one three hovering men that the raita was made fresh every two days. The saag paneer was nicely spiced, but the paneer was soft and crumbly, where I expected it to be firm. The butter chicken was the best I've had anywhere in the Seattle area and will be a definite reason to go back. Fishbowl atmosphere with the big storefront windows and high ceilings. It could have been intimate, but something wasn't quite right. Maybe the need a feng shui consultant. [25 Oct 2002 20:36:16]
