Something just doesn't match up to me. This place is beautiful...excellent service, beautiful ambiance. When you go in the door, you are greeted by the owner, who always asks to take your coat. The decor is lovely. The food is beautifully plated....
...but....
I've eaten here 3 times and have yet to find something that I find edible, let alone good. (Husband's grandmother loves the place, which is why we've gone so often). I am puzzled myself, because there are lots of things I like to eat...seafood, steak, pasta dishes, all kinds of things. I think perhaps I just don't like the type of cuisine? I don't know.
Tonight, I had the linguine with scallops. They were drenched in a really salty, bland butter sauce. The scallops were flavorless and quite rubbery. Every dish there is served with sweet potato mash (I'm not sure why), but it was bland. They have a tomato served with nuts on top (odd). My salad (frisee and escarole) was good, the bread was tasty but very dry.
I'd still recommend the place to people, because I'm sure there are lots of folks who would like this type of food.... but something hasn't struck me about this place yet. [04 Feb 2006 23:42:59]
