Good & Authentic Chinese Food From simple, everyday dishes like beef noodle soup to elaborate, gourmet dishes like beef tendon & sea cucumber stew, Jack (the head chef) creates good and authentic Chinese dishes that cannot be found elsewhere in Seattle.
A "tapa" restaurant in China, is a restaurant off the side of the street serving cheap, everyday food with minimal interior decoration (usually an empty room with a few foldable tables and plastic chairs scattered through out ). When compare to the true "tapa" restaurants in China, Jack's interior is actually very nice. And as any true gourment knows, it's the food that counts. [04 May 2006 13:52:43]

Great food! This anonymous looking place fools you. The name misleads you, the decor could make you walk away. Don't.
Go inside, friendly smiles on all the staff greet you. Make sure you look at the specials listed. Order one.
Service is never lacking from the wait staff, but sometimes the kitchen is a bit slower than you may expect. Just relax, have some more tea. It's worth the wait.
Staples like deep fried tofu with stir fried vegetables, General Tso chicken are outstanding, The Fried Rice and noodle dishes are all above average n quality. Recent stand outs in my mind are the Hunan smoked ham with tofu and leeks. This was spicy hot, rich, and great with a bowl of rice and some vegetables to kill the heat. The stir fried lamb is top notch, tender and flavorful with none of the gamey flavor lamb can some times have.
ChiPa Tofu is like scrambled tofu with finely diced chicken and shrimp. Get this to go, eat it for breakfast with a dash of soy sauce and sesame oil for breakfast.
I asked for stir fried asparagus and prawns, which was not on the menu. Done with a smile, it came out perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked.
Can't miss with the sesame scallion bread. This is a house specialty and is far better then other versions I've had at other restaurants. This is huge, about 9" around and about 2" thick. It tastes just as good the next day heated for about 20 seconds in the microwave and then on the griddle for another minute to bring out the sesame seed flavors. Get a hot pot to go with the bread and you will have a great meal, no rice needed, and lots of left overs as well, the portions are more than generous.
I'm still working my way through the menu. But have yet to be disappointed. [10 May 2006 12:56:24]
