A Keeper My husband and I recently found this restaurant during one of those "let's drive around part of Seattle until we see a random restaurant we have not been to before" trips. This one is certainly a keeper.
I began with the soup of the day, which was shrimp and vegetables in broth with herbs. I didn't like it immediately, but I took a few more bites, and it grew on me. By the end, I was soaking my bread in the bowl to get the last of the broth.
Next, I had something that was called a scallop pot pie. What a far cry from what I was expecting! A dish arrived with perfectly cooked baby carrots and zuchinni, and tender scallops, perfectly seasoned, in a sauce that I can only describe as brilliant. If this was a pot pie, then a bag of M&Ms is a box of hand-dipped chocolate truffles.
I was floored at how fantastic my husband's salad was.
We finished off with some kind of chocolate desert which was almost too rich to finish - and I can usually finish anything chocolate.
One thing I will say - this was a little on the expensive side, but not really that bad for Seattle, and really a great value if you consider the quality of the food. Also, the portions were reasonable - not super huge like you find in some places. So, if you're a big hungry person, take that into account when ordering.
The decor was a little bit like a warehouse converted to a restaurant. I was suprised to see the name of an architect on a plaque as we were leaving. I did think that the partial Seattle map painted on one wall was interesting. [28 Jul 2002 18:59:59]

Higher End Goodness It took me a while to get around to going here, but my girlie and I loved it and wished we didn't wait so long. The menu always contains a couple of dishes based around a local fish catch as well as some interesting sauces nestling their way into the crevices of such creatures as duck and vegetables I am not able to pronounce.
The dishes are seasonal so we are force to go back often; what a personal disaster!
Although the food is wonderful and varied, do expect to pay for it. The first time we went we spent $150, but we didn't skimp on the wine or the drinks from the singing barman. He seems to like Dave Matthews and Huey Lewis - altogether a fun time sitting at the bar after our meal. Apart from Huey Lewis of course. ;) For some reason we went to the Firehouse afterward and taught the youngsters how to boogie. Hmmmm.
I recommend Market Street Grill if you want to have a longer evening with a loved one or a small group of maybe 4 to 6. Try to go a bit later in the evening; you may miss out on the special of the evening, but it is worth sitting at the bar for a while. Besides, most of the dishes are pretty special.
BTW: The mixed drinks are fantastic too.
Yeah, the map of Seattle on the wall - sort of Lonodn Undergraoun meets Mr Thomas Guide.
Enjoy. [05 Jan 2003 00:08:36]

A pretty darn happy Happy Hour I have not been to this restaurant during regular dining hours, only the late afternoon in summer for a great happy hour. Sitting outside in the small contained seating area was great for people-watching and staying cool. My boyfriend and I both ordered something from the "bar" menu, but the food was amazing - not your traditional stuff! I had what I thought would be a normal ol' cheeseburger, but it was pretty fancy and loaded with yummy fresh vegetables and cheeses. The price was good, considering how expensive they usually are; the chef was a dear - though I said I wanted a salad (which turned out awesome - the freshest!), he brought out an extra plate of (deelish!) fries anyway to let us try on the house (I think he read my mind...)
