This institution has been serving its middle-class, detached-home neighborhood ably, even nobly, for more than three decades. - Citysearch, Fred Brack, 1 September 1997 - suggest change

Baaaaad! My husband and I wanted to take out a couple we know for helping us out recently. So we wented the restaurant to be special. Ours friends suggested the Wedgwood Broiler. My first reaction when I walked in was (Oh my GOD) where am I! The place gave me the creeps. Plus, after being seated I looked up and saw cobwebs everywhere. The service was nice, but very, very slooooooooooooow. I'm not lying when I say it took a half hour to get our saled and bread. I was served a plate of old iceburg lettuce with two cheezets on top. Why the two cheezets?
The hostess [suggested] the teriyaki steak, so I ordered it. When my steak was put in front of me I was pisssssed to see brown overcooked peas. The cheapest veggie you can make. The hostess came to our table again to brag about how great their salads are and asked if we liked our dinner? I was honest and told her that I wasn't enjoying my meal. She was very nice about it and asked me if I wanted to order something else and I did. I will never eat there again, or recommend anyone else to eat there either.
P.S. I wish I could have the $75 it cost my husband to eat hospital food.... If you want to answer my letter! I would love to hear from you. [17 Apr 2003 00:00:05]

Really good steaks & salads at decent price Don't listen to previous review; they must have had bad luck. I frequent the Wedgwood Broiler often and have had slow service only once.
I love their salads, like Mom used to make. Their teriyaki steak is my favorite; they always cook it to my preference.
Maybe the previous reviewer would be happier downtown where everything is overpriced & over-pretentious. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Don't be put off by the older decor; it just adds character. [30 Oct 2003 11:59:41]

Predictable but Satisfying Nothing fancy, and the vegetables are uninspired and often overcooked--but the steaks are what we come for. Rare, juicy, and generally broiled to perfect order. The baked potato on the side is fluffy and done just right, the steaks are generally quite good (try the New York for two, if you both like the same degree of rare). The Broiler is a solid base hit in the left field gap between the Metropolitan and Applebee's. Not pretentious, but decent food and a reasonable value--someplace you can afford go weekly. The salads are a little pedestrian, but they are usually crisp and fresh and the Blue Cheese dressing is good. I live in the area and have eaten there often, and am consistently quite pleased.
