Excellent Service and Most Authentic food We tried Goat meat (Khasi Go Mas), Tandoori Chicken and Saag paneer (my daughter's favorite) with Garlic naan and rice. The goat meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked with insanely balanced spices so much so that it reminds me of my 12 years stay in Delhi trying all kind of spicy food to keep my taste buds young and active. The cuts of the meat could have been little smaller but the chef has nothing to do with that. Goat meat is generally imported from Newzealand and Australia and they were cut by the retailers when frozen. Tandoori Chicken was flawless and the saag paneer was out of this world. It was not overtly creamy yet very tasty with small chunks of Indianized cottage cheese.
In a nut shell our experience was great with the genuine service of our host Vishal as well as the owner of the restaurant Mohan Gurung, a long time resident of Mercer Island and also the founder of the Nepal Seattle Society in Seattle. A staunch supporter of healthy organic food and with his great knowledge of Indian herbs and spices Mr. Gurung enhanced our dining experience by sharing some of his valuable tips on good healthy cooking.
I strongly recommend at least one visit to the Everest Kitchen to everybody for a great experience of Indian and Nepali lunch or dinner. [26 Nov 2006 11:50:47]

Delhi-icious find on Lake City Way Casually looking for a place to dine last Thursday, I visualized finding a reasonably-priced, clean, family-owned little obscure international SOMETHING up Lake City Way ... and there it was! (I must confess, I thought it was called "The Everest Kitchen" by the large sign on top) In any event, the food was SO good, we decided to forgo a planned movie in order to linger over the meal. Excellent selections for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Decor simple and colorful but not gaudy, service excellent and management (owners?) friendly and welcoming. We WILL go back. Good food but need to get their act together.. I have eaten here about 4 times. I love the food and the people who work there are extremely courteous. However the third time I ate there with my friend we both got sick, it was definitely something we got there because it was same symptoms and happened simultaneously. Don't ask me why, perhaps it is because the food and service was so good that I actually decided to give it another chance. This time we ordered a vegetarian platter, barbecue lamb and two house salads. It took 40 minutes to get our food and a couple that came in and ordered after us got food before we did. The salad came with the entree, they said they traditionally serve it that way but the three prior visits I had my salad right away. They also told us that the lamb takes longer, if so I don't know why it was cold, and not at all the way it was described (if a dish takes THAT long it should be disclosed when ordering). Finally, the dahl was in the traditional small metal dish, delicious as ever except the dish was less than 2/3 full and it was extremely watery and not very filling (I think I could have counted how many peas were in it without much trouble). While we were eating our meal we were brought our check. The waitress apologized as she had just come on and the original server had told her we were in a hurry, he had obviously confused us with the couple that received their food in a reasonable amount of time. Even though I think most of the problems of last evening were due to our server, I will have a difficult time finding my way back to the Everest Kitchen, it's just too unreliable.
