Disapointing and it's a shame.
Applebees has potential, especially in this area of more fast food restaurants than we need, but we are disappointed every time we go. They are almost always busy at the times we go, which is fine. But the wait-staff just hangs around leaning on walls or chatting with each other (we have overheard some pretty personal stuff!) instead of making the rounds and making making contact with customers who have been waiting a long time. Normally the food is pretty good, and my husband and I are not hard to please, but when something was wrong with a dish my husband ordered (it tasted as if the ribs had gone bad) and he politely and quietly got the waitresses attention to tell her about it she took it very personally. We thought it was a rather strange and rude reaction. It's pretty noisy and rowdy in there and I have often wondered if they actually check ID for alcohol orders.    [16 Jun 2006 18:26:48]
