I would never eat here again
I would never eat here again. I love sushi, however this place tanks at it. The soda is always flat and tasteless. The spicy tuna roll is horrible. The service lacks everything!    [31 Aug 2003 00:32:30]

Good
The food was not the best, but it is tastier than that McDonald's crap that the majority of America seems to enjoy. I enjoyed the setting and the friendliness of the people. The service was exceptional and they made it an enjoyable experience.    [02 Nov 2004 01:36:47]

Osaka Rules! The Best In Kitsap County
I'm not sure why the other reviewer had a bad experience, because Osaka is excellent!

I have been going there for quite some time now and have had nothing but quality Japanese cuisine (it reigns supreme) and service. Sushi orders can arrive a bit slow due to the fact there is only one chef; Chef Bo. So if it is busy be prepared to wait, patience is rewarded with fresh fish and reasonable prices (sorry Seattle!).

Menu items are excellent and arrive promptly, and remind me of my travels in Japan.

Spicy tuna rolls and hand rolls are excellent, especially when you interact with a sushi chef, tell Bo you want to start with a "1 star" and go up as far as you can. I bet you can't get to 7 stars! Tasty and dangerous. The spider rolls are phenomenal and you get the whole crab not half of one (again sorry Seattle).

Spend some time eating and talking here and you will have found a great place to enjoy for along time.

Thanks to Bo and Eiko for all their service and friendship along the way.

Gets Better Each Visit
I have been going to this restaurant at lunchtime probably about 4 or 5 times a month. With each visit the food gets better. I have no idea why people are so critical because the food is really good with some very unique presentation techniques - Hey if you want to pay double for sushi because you think that makes it better quality - hop the ferry and go to Seattle!    [17 Feb 2006 12:53:21]

Service Is Horrible, Food Is Good
My family has been here a few times and the one thing that turns us off is the very slow and rude service we have received. (The sushi is very very good however.) The last time we went to Osaka, it was very busy (a Friday), however, it took 1.5 hours to get our food...we were there for a total of three hours. My daughter was still hungry and wanted to order more food and the server said to us, it will be another hour and we said forget it. Her response was, "You should order everything at once instead of trying to order more later." She was extremely rude with her response and I was disgusted. We have not been there since. We expect good service when we go to ANY full service restaurant...whether it is family or fine dining. We tip at least 15 percent unless service is really good, then we will give 20 or more. Bottom line here is they didn't get a tip at all. We were treated horribly and we will never go there again unless it is under new ownership. I would not recommend this place to anyone no matter how good the sushi is.    [15 Sep 2006 12:25:34]

Probably won't go back.
Every time I've been to Osaka I was never really satisfied with their service. Today made me realize I don't want to go back ever again.

I went in with my boyfriend and we wanted to get one dish each (about $7.50 for each plate) I wanted Curry Don but they didn't have it as it was only for lunch...which I found odd because I had no problem paying the dinner price for it, but she said it wasn't available. Okay, feeling on the spot I just got Katsu Don and my boy friend got Tempura Udon. She then asked us, "Soup and salad?" which I figured would be free with the meal. So we said yes.

We went in there expecting to spend about $20, since we only ordered the two dishes and tea and water. After eating which was satisfactory, and not the best. The Udon had somewhat soggy noodles and the Katsu Don is okay, but not the best, we found out we were charged almost $8 extra for the salad and soup...which weren't even worth it in my opinion.

We didn't have a lot of money to begin with, but I was rather angry at this. However, biting my lip I decided to pay the $26 something for the meal. When paying we told her $10 on my card and we gave her $20 bucks for the remainder and asked for change. When she returned she didn't even bother giving the change and took it for her tip (which I personally thought she didn't even deserve)

This place has always had poor service, and their prices are too high.

I won't go here ever again, it's not worth it.    [19 Feb 2008 03:50:01]

Missing Osaka!
I moved from Silverdale to Virginia last year and can not find anywhere here comparable to Osaka. My daughter and I went there at least twice a month. Bo & Selena are wonderful people and you can't beat their chicken teriaki and California Rolls!    [11 Mar 2008 14:03:51]
