Description
A large and airy mountain cabin feel makes this a warm and welcoming place. Basically an upscale steak, ribs, chicken and seafood house, this is an excellent choice for special occasions.

Excellent The food here is exceptional. Portions are huge and cooked home-style. The wait staff is friendly, and is always ready to bring you a new drink or appetizer. The drink list is huge, and happy hour appetizers are cheap and delicious.
Although the decor is incredibly festive in wild west style, the chandeliers made of antlers bothered my vegetarian friends. [25 Jul 2002 12:45:48]

Service We have been to the Claim Jumper several times since the Tukwila opening. We spend a minimum of $100 dollars each time we go.
On 2/9/04 we arrived at the Claim Jumper at 5:00 P.M. We told the Hostess we had a party of seven. The place was not even half full and the hostess said all they had available for seating was a booth with an added chair in the isle way. I asked for one of the bigger tables in the center of the floor, none of them were being used. She told us it would be at least a half hour wait to be seated at the larger tables. My son said he would sit in the isle chair because he was too hungry to wait.
The entire time we were there, not one of the large tables were used. The result is that we were being treated like second hand citizens in a restaurant that does not even take reservations.
Because of this unfair treatment I would have to rate the service in this place very low. In comparison, there are many other steakhouses in the area that cater to large parties with more respect. [10 Feb 2004 09:51:58]

Great for Big-Eating Carnivores I frequent this restaurant often, and my experiences have mostly been excellent. The food is excellent without fail, and the service is friendly and attentive. The portions are large, the booths are ample and comfortable, and diners are not rushed into leaving at the end of a meal.
My only negative experience was one time a hostess was very polite to me, but kept looking over my shoulder like she saw something she did not care for. I was confused until I realized she was looking at my son ... who is black. The problem has never been repeated, however, and wait staff have been unfailingly gracious to all of us.
The wait at peak dining hours is untenable, and their refusal to take reservations is irritating. They have signs up now telling you you can call ahead for a table, but I've tried that and been told I still have to wait an hour and a half. No thanks. Go for an early dinner or an early lunch.
My elder daughter is vegetarian, and she can't deal with the moose head peering down from above the restrooms. And yes, those antler chandeliers are, in fact, real. [09 Nov 2007 20:49:04]
