Pretty close to the worst that I have had.
I used to go out of my way to go to the one in Puyallup years ago because the food was great but today we went to the Southcenter restaurant to find the food terrible at best.

I ordered the special that included the green beans with pork and almond chicken. The beans and pork were "Okay" but the almond chicken had no taste at all! It was like eating a watered tofu. The rice was hard and the friend that went with me had chow mein and the noodles resembled undercooked spaghetti noodles.

The service was fine and the time that it took to get the food was great but the food was really bad. Sorry for the poor review but I really expected more and I was extremely disappointed to know that one of my favorite restaurants turned out this way.    [20 Jun 2003 15:52:45]

Great Food, service, cleanliness
Went there in 2002, picking it by chance. A Chinese restaurant, just off the mall - didn't expect much. Well - service was great; food was wonderful, plentiful, and not expensive. Sizzling rice very well done. While waiting for soup, went to bathroom - spotless. That's always a good sign. So now it's 2004 - people from my office are going to Seattle, I'm recommending the place. So we'll see what happens.    [28 Mar 2004 11:54:45]

The BEST Mongolian Beef on the West Coast
The service is personable and the food arrives fast. I really don't think that you can get a bad meal here. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet elegant enough to entertain guests. Try to sit by the unique water fountain or the massive aquarium demi-wall. I was very impressed by the waiters that were on first-name basis with many of their customers. This tells me that they have a steady clientèle and I believe that I just became one too.    [06 May 2004 18:14:55]

The worst food I had in Tukwila
I had read that it was good restaurant, but I had the worst experience. I ordered to go garlic chicken wings and prawn curry sauce, it was the worst I had ever had--no taste, full of oil and uncooked.

Food taste we had was not the worth the $.    [14 Sep 2004 15:00:43]

Favorite Chinese place so far...
Went there for the first time because I was just craving some sort of Chinese -- wasn't expecting it to be so good.

The chicken I had for the Sweet and Sour and Almond Fried dishes was all white meat. The Chow Mein had excellent flavor. The fried rice is really tasty too.

As far as service goes, they are always very friendly with funny little anecdotal comments about surrounding businesses.

Very enjoyable restaurant!    [28 Jun 2005 14:19:28]

Great food for over 15 years!!!
My parents took me to the Mayflower as a kid (12-14) as a treat and it has ALWAYS been FABULOUS! Now as a 28 year old woman I go and I still LOVE the food there.

The almond chicken is so good I crave it all the time!! The fried rice is the best I have ever had and there really is nothing on the menu that I have not loved.

This place would not have been able to stay in business as long if they weren't any good, most places couldn't make it a year without repeat customers!!    [03 Dec 2007 23:40:29]

FANTASTIC
A friend suggested this restaurant to me and I have to tell you, I didn't expect much. Chinese food in a strip mall didn't sound that great to me... but I was WRONG. The food here is fantastic (specifically the Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken & Prawns and the Chow Mein). I love the food and the staff is amazing. The owner picks up my twins and carries them around to look at the fish. She brings them extra cookies. I don't think I've ever left hungry or anything other than very happy.    [22 Apr 2008 17:01:04]

Why Was This So Difficult?
I am a vegetarian with soy and wheat allergies. I usually eat at Chinese restaurants - no problem with getting steamed vegetables (no oil) and rice. The waitress was rushing me and didn't want to take the time to understand what I was asking. I don't think she could think outside of her normal listed orders/cooking routine to address my food restrictions. Finally, I asked for the manager and told her what I wanted - steamed carrots, celery, bok choy, snow peas with steamed rice (no oil) - very simple. They still got the order wrong but since I was tired and hungry I ate it anyway. I've never had this problem at a Chinese restaurant and I'm surprised that I seem to be the only one who has asked about food allergies at this restaurant. The manager tried but they just didn't get my simple dish correct. My friend's dish looked OK but I don't remember if it was good - she didn't finish it or take a doggy bag so I'd have to say it was average - nothing special. Although I won't visit again, I would recommend this place to people who aren't particular about food or decor.    [30 Jul 2008 03:51:13]
