This place is a rare find. Who would have expected to find a delicious Japanese steak house and sushi bar next to a Target store? The show put on by the steak chefs is fun. Seating is eight around a grill, so groups larger than that or smaller than that might share a table, but it does not feel intrusive since the chef is the center of attention. The food is good, and the experienced chefs are entertaining. So far in the four times I have sat on the steak side, I have had chefs with no less than 15 years of experience doing this! The sushi side is equally delectable. You can sit at tables, on the sushi side, or right up at the bar, and watch the friendly sushi chef make your food. Tip: Ask him to make you one of his specials not on the menu! They are wonderful, and he likes showing off. You can also get sushi as an appetizer if you are sitting on the steak side.    []

I love this place!
One of the best places for SUSHI and Japanese steak in Seattle. The food is wonderful, the staff is equally as attractive, and so is the atmosphere. Try it out.    [09 Dec 2004 03:13:11]

Terrible service
The worst dining experience we've EVER had--period. The rudest chef and servers. They had us waiting for almost half an hour before the chef finally emerged with an attitude because we asked the server how long it would take before our food was prepared. We were hungry. She explained that it would take another 20 minutes to prepare. Asking your patrons to wait an hour before their food is served is ridiculous. We will never go back. I'd encourage people to choose from the many other quality Japanese restaurants in the area who will treat paying customers the way they deserve to be treated.    [03 Oct 2005 20:26:45]

AWESOME!
We absolutely adore the chefs at Mizu, they are very fun to watch, and do not over season the food. Although you have to pay for extra soup, rice or salad, but, that's the wave of the future... BUT we NEVER leave hungry! The sushi is delectable, but we prefer the steak house side. The atmosphere is light and airy and the wait staff VERY courteous.    [15 Dec 2005 18:08:59]

Awesome, but the same
This place is awesome, good show and quality of food is simple but works well.

3 things from my critique point of view.

1) They make you wait until nearly the entire table is filled with people before they send a chef out to cook for you.

2) They charge for rice, regardless, we didn't even order extra rice.

3) The food there is completely the same as other Japanese steakhouse type places. Chicken, Shrimp, Beef, Calamari, Scallops. Thats about it. The rest is filler vegetables.

There's one in Federal Way (non-affiliated I think) exactly like this, but under a different name.    [09 Nov 2006 16:34:27]

Excellent
The Food, Atmosphere, and Service was great. Prices were reasonable.

I went with a group of friends and we love the social aspect of it all.    [04 Jan 2007 14:12:47]

Best sushi in the US
I am from Japan, living in DC. Trust me, Mizu is the best sushi place I have ever tried. Especially, weekends when Japanese chef is available. He knows how to treat/cut/cook/present fishes. Try "omakase", which means chef's recommendation. I want to go back to Seattle just for this sushi place!    [29 Jan 2007 10:04:47]
