My favorite place to stop on I-5
Newport Bay is a chain seafood restaurant that only exists (I believe) in Oregon and Washington.

They (the chain) pride themselves on fantastic service, although I find that the quality of service varies from location to location. At the Tukwila location, the service is usually very good, but things can get bad during weekday lunch hours when they sometimes get bogged down.

Warning: the house salad includes shrimp and cheese by default, so if you don't eat either of these things, let them know. But the salads are yummy in my opinion.

The food is sometimes a bit on the salty side - but I like it that way.

I kind of think of this place as Red Lobster, but much better food and better service. It's worth going to on an informal occasion, but it's not a fancy upscale seafood restaurant.

I have had much occasion to drive up and down I-5 between Washington and Oregon, and Newport Bay (any of the locations) was my favorite place to stop for dinner.    [16 Jan 2002 19:17:45]

POOR SERVICE
I'm sitting at my desk eating cold french fries because the service was so slow we had to get our lunch to go!

We were seated and had our water by 12:15 but our waitress disappeared and did not return until 12:25. We placed our orders and advised her that we were on a lunch hour and would appreciate being served as soon as possible.

At 12:45 we advised our waitress that we would need our food to go as we did not have time to eat it there. Five minutes later someone else brought our check and food and mumbled something to us (I think an apology but I'm not sure).

The waitress never did come to take our money so we left after digging up enough to cover the bill.    [12 May 2003 16:45:07]
