Skip Breakfast Can't speak for other meals, but breakfast was a disaster. The order was screwed up twice. When I finally got my bacon and cheddar omelete, the bacon was just about raw (I asked for crispy), and the eggs were runny and pretty gross. You would think that when a waitress takes a $10 breakfast back to the table uneaten, it might occur to her that something was wrong.
The service was so slow that I was already running late, so I didn't bother making an issue. [19 Dec 2000 22:26:31]

Overrated, Expensive Poor quality food. Bad service. Nice decor, however. Way, way overpriced. Mediocre service. [18 Jun 2003 02:02:47]

Getting Better As a frequent traveler, I've had the opportunity to stay at the Heathman Lodge on several occasions. 3 are worth mentioning. The first, in january 07, was dismal. Service sucked, food sucked, just sucked. That was under the leadership of the original executive chef. Another visit in june 07 (felt lucky I guess) was a little different. There was a new chef, I figured things might have changed. They had. Food was worse, service was, well, excellent. The hotel is so nicely run that I had to stay again, in december this time, and at the urging of a close companion, and after having learned that there was yet another head chef, I gave the restaurant a third and final go. Wow. The salmon dish was remarkable. Fingerling potatoes, little whole onions, port wine sauce, and grilled salmon. Out of this world. And the special, Pork chops, scalloped potatoes, spiced apples (not the bright red kind you get in a can), horseradish cream. Again, home run. The service was excellent as well. I hope this signifies a trend in the food at the Heathman, as it would also hint at great things to come. I'll give it another shot soon. [06 Jan 2008 00:16:21]
