The Real Deal Terrific hospitality, which underscores the tremendous barbecue. The portions are generous, and Dave spends time checking to make sure your food is right. [01 May 2005 23:57:15]

This place has good food but... This place has good food but when you talk about service you have to say what service? In a restaurant like this they really take the time to get the food right, but they don't treat the people in the same maner. [01 Aug 2005 14:30:21]

My Gosh, it don't get much better!! This is a real bbq joint. The pulled pork and pork spare ribs are among the best I've ever had among the many, many bbq places I've eaten at throughout the southeast. And Dave's brisket... well, Texas may be the place where bbq'd beef brisket was invented, but save yourself the trouble of heading to central Texas, 'cause it don't get much better than at Dave's.
Dave's isn't a full service restaurant; it is an unpretentious, good old-fashioned joint that gives you a place to sit down if you want to eat in the store. Just like the best places back home. If you're expecting a full-service restaurant, don't come here.... or to any of what I consider to be the best bbq joints around the country. Come here only if you want some of the best bbq you'll taste anywhere, with the authentic feel of what a bbq joint should be.
You can also take it to go, or even phone ahead and pick it up at their window.
Dave is as unpretentious as his store. He seems to take great pride in what he serves, and he goes to great lengths to make sure his customers are happy with their food. He was willing to spend some time talking to me about bbq and his philosophy about bbq, which demonstrated to me just how much he loves doing what he does. [25 Sep 2005 19:12:39]

Good food, bad service The food is great, although the lunch menu is now extremely limited and if you ask for any variation from what is offered, you'll be refused.
It really is a shame the food is as wonderful as it is, because I feel forced to keep returning, even though the service is very disappointing.
Hours are limited and the restaurant is sometimes closed for no apparent reason.
The owner is apparently ex-military and plainly very proud of that. I have no problem with that at all, but he needs to understand that now he is no longer in the army he can no longer treat his customers the way he may have previously treated his juniors in the army. [24 Nov 2005 00:10:59]

Outstanding Ribs-Really Poor Treatment by the Boss Being an Vietnam military veteran myself I at first was excited about a fellow vet, Dave opening his place.
However, his personal treatment of this customer (I can only speak for myself) could only be described as creepy, unsettling; disturbed.
What happened more than once? Find out for yourself-I don't go there anymore.
It's a shame because he really makes great ribs-best in town-really! [02 Mar 2006 15:51:47]

Exceptional Food-Very Poor Customer Service I'm a rib person, and the owner is as well. He makes the best darn ribs I've tasted, really. But I don't go there anymore after his "customer service" with me was actually abrasive after I attempted to order.
I previously had given my orders to his only counter person and she acted as expected. I often commented upon the excellent food to her. I once even asked to meet Dave and shook his hand and congratulated him on the food.
However, sometime later when I met him alone, his counter person was not there, behind the counter I was given the orders-in no uncertain terms. It was the most unsettling experience I have had at a restaurant; reminds me of when I was in the Army. [12 Mar 2006 12:25:13]

Great BBQ, Great Service I've eaten at Dave's BBQ at least once a week since it opened. I originally came because I love bbq, and I found out he was a medevac/dustoff flight medic and so was I. Right now I eat all my meals out because of my business schedule, and this is my favorite place to eat. I tried that place in Cashmere, and they don't hold a candle to Dave's.
I love the pulled pork and the bbq beans the best. Of course, trying to decide which is best is a hard thing to do because it is all terrific. This is the best bbq I have ever eaten.
I've read other's comments about Dave's service being poor or inhospitable. All I have to say is that they must've done something really obnoxious. I see Dave hand out treats to children, and personally go to each table to make sure folks are happy with their food. I have seen him take sandwiches out to the homeless that hang around the park across the street. He will frequently carry food purchases out to the cars for elderly customers who ordered take-out. I also know that he gives his bbq leftovers to a men's shelter at the end of each day.
I would suggest folks ignore the comments from those who seem to have an axe to grind and check out the food and service fo themselves. You won't be sorry. [20 Mar 2006 13:33:34]

Dave's Is Closed He really did have the best damn ribs in the area, but the worst damn attitude toward his customers.
"Build it and they will come," apparently has a lot to do with customer service, rather than your product.
The BBQ joint in Cashmere is not as good per the food. They do respect their customers though- [28 Aug 2006 02:04:54]

Best BBQ!! Dave's BBQ was the best I have ever had. Not to mention that he was extremely nice. As we were walking back to our truck I told my husband what great service that was! He treated us like we were regulars, and it was our first time there! He even gave our daughter an extra brownie. I was disappointed when I found out that they are currently on hold while looking for a new place to lease. I have read some of the other comments about service, and well, I'm sorry but you must be picky because it was great for me!! All I need is my food to be right and a smile. [31 Aug 2006 12:17:23]
