Mediocre would be a compliment, Horrible at best Well, I give every restaurant 3 tries before I make a judgement. I had to stop at the 2nd try for this one because I do not like "torture by food"! Friday night seafood buffet; Split king Crab legs served with melted Margarine! Yes I said margarine!! It was served with these crab-legs under the guise of being butter. Upon realization of being duped I asked the hostess why they were serving margarine instead of butter her reply was " do you know how expensive butter is?" The fried shrimp and clam strips tasted as if they were prepared several hours before service, even though I watched the attendants refill the pan at regular intervals. That was my last experience at the eagles nest. My previous visit was not much better, I had ordered the Porterhouse steak, my partner ordered the Tenderloin to be cooked medium rare, the tenderloin arrived over-cooked (past medium-well) and it was butter-flied, when not requested to be prepared in that manner. My porterhouse steak was virtually flavorless from being cooked with no seasonings and no searing evident. (was it cooked in an oven? or steamed?) Our guest opted for the buffet, he was drawn by the smoked rib-tips with sauerkraut, and the prime rib roast, the sauerkraut was flavorless! During our explanation from the person carving the prime rib as to why the kraut was this way we were told that the kitchen staff was instructed to rinse the kraut in cold water before preperation! the vegetables on the buffet were bland with no seasoning, and bathing in what seemed to be a butter flavored vegetable oil. The prime rib that was being carved on the buffet was the worst ever eaten according to our guest. He complained of "no flavor" And gelatinous in consistency. I have always come to expect Casino restaurants to be of high quality, Not at lake of the torches in Lac Du Flambeau! You would fare much better to eat at the hot-dog place just 2 miles up the road.
