Relaxing and yet not the absolute one might desire but solid. Eat there often and enjoy it. For the price it is great but not the top of the line. [12 Dec 2001 16:13:20]

Discriminatory of younger diners. Unfortunately for myself and my girlfriend, our twenty minute seating wait turned into a forty five minute ordeal that ended with us leaving the establishment. As a pair of ninenteen year olds, we watched as no fewer than 3 walk-in couples were seated prior to our exit. I have dined there many times before, but alas, I will never again. Best in the area! Great menu, generous portions, good drinks, nice prices. Excellent friendly service, casual dress and atmosphere, very cozy table arrangements. Chef will customize your order to your liking. Strongly suggest a reservation if possible, but if not, the wait for a table is worth your while. Special treat, take home some freshly made chocolate candy! [11 Jul 2005 12:38:41]

Food & Friends is NOT a B&B, but a great place to dine Food and Friends has wonderful food. It is always busy, so reservations are recommended. Guests with reservations are seated prior to those without them, which may explain some long wait times. My out of town guests who have access to many restaurants in the Washington D.C./Maryland area just love this place. The service is sometimes slow due to the high volume, which is understandable. Excellent Food but.... Food is excellent and in the dozen or so meals eaten here over the past four years service has been good -- usually friendly waitresses. Recent visit was disappointing. Crowded evening but wife and I had reservations. Unfortunately we waited 20 minutes while other larger groups with reservations were taken in. I asked and found out the hostess had placed our name on the walk-in list and said it would be a few minutes -- never apologized. We were finally seated a few minutes later ... hostess walked by us and in a terse voice said follow me, seated us and mumbled sorry for the mix-up. It was our anniversary so my wife and I did not allow it to upset our meal - which was excellent. They do need to work on better hostess skills. It left enough of an impression that I'm taking the time to write a few reviews regarding this [02 Jan 2006 09:58:37]

Never again A visit to this restaurant on July 22 was as close to a disaster as it gets. We made reservations for a party of eight when the restaurant opened but it still took a 20 min. wait to get seated. It took over 20 min to get a waitress to notice. Salad was brought but we could not get the waitress to bring us tableware, she intentionally avoided bringing us the flatware. We had to get a manager to bring it. Food was cold when arrived and bland. The sauce on the Italian food was more to the taste of something from Ragu. A member of our party had to go get the manager to bring us a refill on drinks and that was at the end of the meal. Complaints to manager about the food and staff went unheard and she was very arrogant towards us.
We did fare better that the couple beside us. They were in the restaurant when we arrived; they waited and watched two other tables get their food even though they had ordered prior to our order being taken. They also had to get a manager to bring them their food.
I would “NOT” recommend this restaurant to anyone; avoid this place. [24 Jul 2006 10:18:56]

There is always, even on cold January nights, a waiting line that includes not just walk-ins, but people with reservations. I nearly walked out after my reserved time of 6 p.m. dragged on to 6:10, but they assured me I should wait and I was shortly seated. Everybody on staff fretted over me to make certain I did not leave unhappy. I'm glad they prevailed. Sometimes it's good to be wrong.
The Bourbon Salmon (cooked in bourbon and glazed with a bourbon glaze) is to die for. I tried unsuccessfully to extract the recipe from the waitress. I tried to hypnotize her to no avail. The waitresses are armored against recipe assault.
There was just one shortcoming; the bourbon salmon was gone too soon despite the fact that I ate very slowly, savoring every last morsel. [29 Jan 2007 10:24:50]
