Western brunch
This is apparently a very popular place with Western expats and travelers, located in the backpacker area. I gather it has movies showing, and has newspapers to read.

My friend and I ate a mixed brunch. One the one hand a pork VNese baguette with Pepsi; on the other, eggs and sausage and an orange Merinda soft drink. Total: VND 112,000. Cheap.

My sausage was of the continental Bratwurst style, the eggs fried soft. Sides of white toast, baked beans, a hashbrown, and finally an onion, mushroom and chopped parsley mix.

Quite nice.

I will never go back
Have eaten here several times, and the last two visits ensured I would never go back. After the first foul-up, I decided to try to help the owners, by replying to the email address which had been used to give me a discount card and letting them know how the staff had tried to pass off wrong items on the dish, same across the room. The email was never answered. I gave them one more try and they really cocked up my meal, they gave it to someone else. Foreign management seems not to care about teaching the staff to do a good job. Typical poor Pham Ngu Lao service just made to look more fancy, and at a higher price.    [30 Jan 2008 02:22:16]

Brand new location.
Thank God they finally have a location other than Bui Vien. 86 Pham Ngoc Thach is wonderfully located in the heart of expat teacher zone. No more riding through the traffic to get to Bui Vien. Pham Ngoc Thach is clean and safe and lots of stuff happening.    [25 Nov 2008 13:01:16]
