Description

Small cafe in the heart of town. In one of the major streets for CBD eateries. It is a tiny hole-in-the-wall opposite the massive Sheraton International hotel. About 2 metres wide with a small set of small tables, it also offers several more tables on the footpath for street ambience. Very limited menu, concentrating on doing what they do well. Inexpensive. Always has subcontinental custom.

Basic
Basic food at not exactly basic prices. I only went once.    [10 Nov 2006 12:41:18]

Menu small, food good
A streetside cafe opposite the massive Sheraton Hotel in downtown Saigon. Plastic chairs on the footpath. A very limited menu, but the dishes are uniformly tasty and enjoyable. The mutton curry is exceptional. Breads are limited to 2 types. Lassies (spelling?) - the drink - are tasty. One disappointment is that in this country of fresh everything they use diced carrot/peas/bean mix for their vege curry. It could be much more imaginative. Nevertheless I go there at lunchtime regularly just to eat their delicious mutton curry with gravy and bread. Streetside ambience is to my liking, eating nice food while watching the hum of the city go by.    [08 Dec 2006 04:10:23]

New address, food even better
Bombay has moved up the street to number 59, where they can now seat guests indoors in a cute little place about 2 metres wide. I chose to stay on the footpath and enjoy my usual lunchtime ambience and mutton curry with superb chapati. The menu has expanded slightly and I had also an aloo gobi that was quite good. I wrote the review above, and I stick by my views that this is an under-rated eatery: good food, cheap prices.    [05 Mar 2007 22:16:09]
