Home Delivery & Outside Catering Chez Guido is not a restaurant. Headquarters are in the northern part of the city, but it delivers all over. They do home and office delivery, buffets, cocktails, receptions and parties. Prices are good (100,000 VND or less for large pizza; burgers less than 50,000 on average). They charge 10,000 VND for far deliveries (e.g. to south Saigon).
I have had pizzas, burgers, lasagna, salads and all are good. With the meal you order come: fresh fruit (usually a banana), plastic knife & fork, paper serviette, toothpick, and a current menu.
Highly recommended. They should open another branch in Saigon South. [07 Jun 2007 05:03:01]

Not Good Anymore Once upon a time there might actually have been an Italian involved with this place. That would have been back when the Palace Hotel was the tallest building in town and long before Mr Clinton had met 'that woman'. Wags more cynical than I am suggest that an elderly European tourist was wandering around when he got dragged into an impromptu photo-shoot one afternoon and that's how we got 'Guido'.
Anyway, to the point, this place used to be good. The pizzas were good and the delivery was very very reliable. But they suffered that Vietnamese disease: They start out with proper ingredients, proper methods and proper standards but as time goes by they can't resist adding this 'Vietnamese' touch, skimping on the ingredients here, cutting a few corners ... and as staff leave you just lose that 'genetic memory' - awful phrase but I'm pushed for time here.
I wouldn't recommend them - at all. There are a few newer operations in town that have been taught how to cook Italian and still haven't forgotten. Of course they deliver. There is one place which does exceptional pizzas listed on this site.
I'll mark them down for service and ambience cos they're simply unable to keep a menu with current prices on their website. The last time, and I mean the final time, I ordered something from here the bill was about 20% higher than what I was expecting. [08 Jun 2007 00:50:23]

Chez Guido is Shoddy I agree with the above. There was an Italian guy in the picture when it was involved / implanted in the Continental hotel. I have not used Chez Guido for years, as had some terribly shoddy meals in a row from there. Have (very) occasionally had a not bad pizza from there in more recent years, but ordered from a bar with no food, so obviously it was enhanced by sheer hunger. [25 Jun 2007 03:24:51]

Reprieve Recently used Chez Guido again as very near to current office - and much improved from my memories of it, so maybe I was harsh above or maybe they hit a bad patch for a few years.
P.S. The operation is in Binh Thanh, not Tan Binh as shown above. Delivery only, but Binh Thanh is a lot closer to everywhere than Tan Binh is. [27 Mar 2008 01:26:11]
