Vung Tau
Description
This is not a restaurant entry, but rather information about food sold by mobile vendors on the beach. In this case: the back beach at Vung Tau.
Like many beaches in this part of the world, an esplanade (Thuy Van) runs along the swale beside the ocean, behind the major dune. Here, on the back beach, you have quite a walk, ploughing over soft sand, to cross the dune to descend onto the beach proper, where vendors sell or rent almost everything: deck chairs to sit on, beach umbrellas to sit under, food, clothes, knick nacks, sunglasses, beer, other drinks, cigarettes, rubber inner tubes, the lot.
In this area there are no established eateries atop the dune as there are in other places, for instance, in Tuy Hoa (see that location on this guide for descriptions). Here the sale of stuff is left to beach vendors entirely.

deck chair decadence It has to be fun to sit through the afternoon and early evening, on a beach like this, punctuated by intermittent dips in the ocean, drinking beer, eating all sorts of seafood delicacies (as well as things like boiled eggs), served up by vendors who peddle at arm's length, literally.
We recently shrimped and crayfished out, not to mention crabbed and cockled. [13 Dec 2007 09:14:08]
