Profile
I am a career academic anthropologist, from Australia, one who got paid for decades for being interested in other cultures. I am of and from the university, rather than the surreal - usually known as the real - world. However, I have a lifelong interest in restaurant and food culture, and a participant's interest in drinking wine, beer and other forms of alcohol (my ally, as Don Juan characterised it for the anthropologist Carlos Castenada).
In what might be called early retirement, I now live on The Scrapheap in Vietnam, as the Vietnamese and their culture have been my principal research interests for a long time.
I have recently taken to writing restaurant reviews for chefmoz as a bit of late night fun.
